One of the misconceptions about proofreading is that it is simply about checking documents and books for spelling, punctuation and grammar mistakes. In reality this is far from being the whole story. To be a successful proofreader you will need to have an understanding of the disciplines that overlap proofreading in the publishing process, namely typography and editing.
